It was a great pleasure to spend an hour and a half speaking with the University of the Third Age today. The turnout was excellent; I need to go back and ask for numbers for my little target of 1,000, but I am thinking it was about 50 people.
It was great to field a range of questions on a range of nuclear power issues, and the response overall seemed really, strongly positive.
With any luck, some of those present will become regular visitors here at DSA, and add to the momentum for a proper conversation about nuclear power in Australia.
One valuable lesson learned: a handout. Something for people to take with them with the main points of the discussion. Me thinks I have seen such a thing floating around already. Can anyone help and stop me reinventing that particular wheel?
I’m looking forward to CEDA in Perth next week, Mid Murray LAP in November, and hopefully some more community groups here in Adelaide soon.
Thanks again for having me U3A.
I handed out this pamphlet from Brave New Climate at the Walk Against Warming last year:
(or linked from the FAQ page at BNC.)
Its a double sided single page trifold. I think its pretty good.
Yep, you can have the pamphlet as is (with name change of course) or I can make changes as required. Email me.
